Winter parking bans delayed in village, town

The Village of Kenmore is delaying the start of the winter on-street parking ban until Dec. 1 since the weather forecasts indicate minimal snow over the next two weeks.

Mayor Patrick Mang noted that he hopes this delay will help village residents, especially with the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.

The Village Board amended its parking ban regulations in 2016, which reduced the ban by one month. The current parking restriction runs Nov. 15 through March 15, and prohibits parking on village streets from 2 to 6 a.m. The ban was implemented to allow a concentrated time for snowplowing.

“In delaying the winter parking ban’s start date to Dec. 1, Kenmore residents will have an additional two weeks to park on the street,” Mang said.

He added that the village can put the parking restrictions back in place if there is a significant amount of snow before Dec. 1.

The Town of Tonawanda has pushed back its overnight parking ban to Nov. 22.
