Tonawanda resident honored for service as adjunct professor


Gregory T. Ivancic Gregory T. Ivancic Gregory T. Ivancic, a partner at Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman LLP and a Tonawanda resident, was recently honored with a Canisius College citation in appreciation for his 30 years of service as an adjunct professor of accounting.

“When I started practicing law, I knew that I wanted to maintain my connection to the accounting world, and Canisius has provided me that opportunity,” Ivancic said. “I really enjoy the teaching experience, and my hope has always been that my students get as much out of the experience as I do.”

During his tenure at Canisius College, Ivancic has taught both financial and managerial accounting, mainly to graduate students in the Master of Business Administration program. He also taught some undergraduate accounting classes and a sports financing course.

“Gregory Ivancic’s three decades of dedicated service as an adjunct professor has helped to maintain the national reputation of the accounting program,” said Ian Redpath, professor of accounting at Canisius College. “Greg is known for his great sense of humor and enthusiastic attitude. He is respected by his colleagues and students for his outstanding efforts in the classroom.”

At Lippes Mathias, Ivancic focuses his work on mergers, acquisitions, private equity funding, partnership arrangements and general corporate matters.

Prior to joining the firm, he was a certified public accountant with PriceWaterhouseCoopers’ Buffalo office.

Ivancic remains active in the accounting field by maintaining his CPA license and belongs to the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.
